Key Features of the Palm Springs

Cushioned comfort

One of the standout aspects of this model is the excellent consideration towards comfort. Featuring a durable I beam construction, the walls and interior of the Palm Springs spa offer the perfect space to reline for hours on end.

One of the main gripes that some have with this brand’s range is the lack of seating, though this inflatable hot tub features a padded floor that more than makes up for this and allows you to comfortably fit 6 adults for extended periods with minimal risk of aches or pains.

Spacious interior

Though there are a couple of Lay-Z-Spa models that do accommodate up to 7 people are the Helsinki and the St Moritz model

The Palm Springs is amongst the most spacious of their 4-6 seaters, with plenty of room for two adults and 3 or 4 children, which seems to be the most popular size when it comes to these hot tubs.

Providing a water capacity of 916L and a width of 196cm, the Palm Springs Airjet offers the perfect environment for garden parties and evening entertaining, with this model beating almost every other Lay-Z-Spa 4-6 seater in terms of available space.

Airjet massage system

With a 140 airjet massage system placed around the entire circumference of the floor of the tub, it can provide a full body massage experience with thousands of bubbles that can be fully controlled by an easy-to-reach digital control panel on the side of the tub.

This massage system is also benefitted by dual operation, which allows the rapid heating system, filter and air jets to all run simultaneously from the pump, providing full spa functionality that will never be impeded by heat loss.

Palm Springs Size, and Specifications

How Big is The Lazy Spa Palm Springs

The Lay Z Spa Palm Springs dimensions are 71cm x 196cm (28″ x 77″). This is the inflated size. One of the larger models in the Lay Z Spa range, with the capacity to fit up to 6 adults.

We’ve found it’s best to expect a more comfortable experience with one or two fewer guests than this, but with a height of 71cm and a width of 196cm, there’s more than enough space for at least 5 average-sized adults to recline in the warm bubbles.

How Many Litres is Palm Springs Lazy Spa?

The Lay Z Spa Palm Springs is 916 Litres (242 Gallons) with a filled weight of 1225kg (2701lb)

Is the Palm Springs Hot Tub WI-FI Controlled?

The Palm Springs inflatable hot tub does not feature wi-fi controls as standard, though if you do really enjoy this feature, there is a wi-fi enabled pump that can be purchased separately.

Does This Model Have Lighting?

This Lay Z Spa does not include LED lighting, in fact, there are only a handful of Lay-Z-Spa Airjet models that do, though the brand do sell a few floating light accessories that are compatible with the Palm Springs spa.

What About Safety Features?

Alongside a secure inflatable lid and insulated cover, this model features an excellent ground fault detection system that will highlight any electrical issues on the digital control panel.

All of this brand’s models are also fitted with an internal RCD unit, which will completely cut the electrical current and pump if any water comes into contact with the hot tub’s circuitry.

Detailed Review

How comfortable is this hot tub?

Comfortability is one of the main features of this spa, with the I beam inner walls providing a great deal of comfort and support when fully inflated.

These inner walls are also a little higher than some of Lay-Z-Spa’s other 4-6 seaters, meaning the average-sized adult has more than enough room to recline. We’re also a big fan of the cushioned floor, which is incredibly comfortable to sit on for extended periods.

Does a Lay-Z-Spa use a lot of electricity?

Most spa models from this brand will cost around £7-£10 a week to run.

As a larger model, you can expect the Lay-Z-Spa Palm Springs running costs to creep up to £10-£15 per week during extended use, but by utilising the energy-saving timer, you can gain a little more control over your energy costs.

First-time buyers should be aware of the additional costs to maintain an inflatable hot tub, with things like filter cartridges and chemicals quickly adding up.

Thankfully, the company offers a free chemical kit with most hot tub purchases, which can help to keep those initial costs down!

Heat up times

This model features an excellent rapid heating system that’s able to achieve a maximum temperature of 40 degrees within around 10 hours of your hot tub’s initial set-up.

Once heated, this spa model is able to run the heating system concurrently with the bubbles and filter, allowing you to keep the water warm.

Also features freeze shield technology, which uses a variety of sensors to detect the internal water temperature, and applies additional heat if it ever drops below 6-10 degrees Celsius.

By combining the shield with the cover, you’ll be able to prevent heat loss when the tub is not in use, allowing for even quicker heat-up times when you do choose to take a dip.

Pump noisy?

Is the Lay Z Spa Palm Springs pump noise?

The average inflatable hot tub or spa will produce around 50 – 60 decibels of noise pollution this is similar to the sound of traffic or a pedestrian walkway. No matter how you look at it, they’re fairly noisy products.

The digitally controlled pump does a pretty good job of limiting this noise, though if you’re in a built-up area, you should definitely refrain from running your hot tub late into the night.

There are a few things you can do to limit the noise, like placing the hot tub on an insulating mat or positioning it in a sheltered area. But, if you’re looking for the quietest hot tub out there, you’d be best advised to choose a smaller model.

Winter usage

The Palm Springs is ideal for winter use; by making use of the built-in freeze shield and rapid heating system, you’ll never have to worry about the temperature dropping and frozen water causing damage to the pipes and pump of this spa during the winter months.

The Duraplus material lining and heating system do a great job of retaining your water temperature when the inflatable spa is in use, and so long as you’re storing your tub with the lid sealed and power supplied to the freeze shield, there’ll be no risk of damage during chilly nights. This inflatable spa also has a convenient quick drain system if you want to pack it away quickly. You can also learn how to fold a lazy spa properly so it’s packed away nice and tight taking up limited space.

Price and discounts

In terms of the companies range, we think this spa is reasonably priced, given the size of the hot tub spa, quality and all the things in the way of comfort you’d be hard-pressed to find a more cost-effective model.

Of course, there are comparably sized inflatable hot tubs from other brands that are cheaper, but as far as we can tell, you won’t be able to find any with the same winter protection and safety considerations than the Lazy Spa Palm Springs.

It’s always worth checking for discounts on a spa, especially during the off season, though with the recent demand for inflatable hot tubs this may be unlikely for the foreseeable future!

Warranty and support

It comes with a standard warranty of 12 months for the pump and 6 months for the cover.

This warranty can be extended to 24 months for the pump and 12 months for the inflatable lid by simply registering your hot tub online, which we definitely advise you do!

The brand also offers a free UK support line staffed by experts in the field of inflatable hot tubs, details of which can be found on their website.

Online Reviews - What Buyers Say?

The online hot tub reviews of the Bestway Palm Springs show that it scores on average 4.5/5 stars and has been praised by customers for its heat retention and ease in which to assemble. The Bestway Lay-Z-Spa also provides good value for money and is ideally suited for groups of friends or a large family.

As far as we’re concerned, this is a great hot tub for those looking to entertain guests and make the most out of their garden space. With an incredibly comfortable design by Lay Z Spa and more room than many of its competitors, the Palm Springs Lazy Spa is ideal for get-togethers and sociable families.

How to Setup The Bestway Palm Springs

Unlike some other hot tubs or spa, this hot tub requires no setup tools. All you need to do is carry it into the garden, simply connect the pump and you’ll have an inflated hot tub in under 10 minutes.

Plus, a hassle-free chemical floater is included with this spa to keep the water clean once filled.

Alternatives: How Does the Palm Springs Airjet Compare?

CosySpa offer some pretty good competition to the industry leaders, with their new 2022 spa model featuring a higher capacity than the spa model reviewed here at a considerably lower price point.

We’ve found that whilst the material in this hot tub spa is very durable and hard-wearing, it’s not quite as stylish, and most importantly it’s not nearly as comfortable during extended use.

The Intex Purespa Bubble Massage spa is a genuine contender to the Lay Z Spa Palm Springs, with an equally impressive design and a slightly larger capacity at over 1000L. It’s also a very comfortable hot tub spa with just as many air jets, making a toss-up between the two pretty hard to call.

Where the Purespa falls away, however, is its lack of freeze protection and its higher price point, making this Lay-Z-Spa a little more cost-effective and easier to make use of during the colder months
