The Hawaii hot tub has a lot going for it in the 4-6 person inflatable spa range, but the square shape isn’t for everyone, and it has got plenty of competition from both Lay Z Spa and other brands.

We’ve tested dozens of home spas over the last ten years and checked other reviews to see which jacuzzis perform best.

Taking a different approach to hot tub design to many of the other models in the Lay Z Spa range, Hawaii is one of the best hot tub models with a square design that helps to promote socialising when relaxing in this spacious inflatable hot tub.
With room for up to 6 guests to soak at once, the Hawaii allows each person in the spa to better communicate by facing each of your friends towards each other. Combining this sociable design with the Hawaii’s comfortable I beam construction, this inflatable hot tub provides a relaxing experience for social groups looking for an intimate hot tub party.
A staple feature in Lay Z Spa’s current range of hot tubs, the Hawaii’s excellent freeze shield technology helps protect your hot tub from being damaged by frozen water and prevents the internal water temperature from ever dropping below 6-10 degrees Celsius.
Using an array of sensors, the freeze shield will prevent frost and ice from forming overnight, allowing the Hawaii to be enjoyed year-round. When coupled with the Hawaii’s brilliant rapid heating system, this premium hot tub can reach your desired temperature in no time at all, even during the depths of winter!
No inflatable hot tub experience would be complete without a good amount of bubbles and massaging air jets. Like the other hot tub models in the current Lay Z Spa range, the Hawaii uses powerful massaging air jets placed around the circumference of the floor to produce an all surrounding massage system.
With simple to use controls located on the Hawaii’s digital control panel, you can easily adjust the power and force of the 140 air jets, producing a steady stream of air bubbles that can work concurrently with the rapid heating and water filtration system, allowing you to relax in premium comfort.

The Lay Z Spa Hawaii Airjet does not include wi-fi controls as standard. In fact, neither does its more expensive Hydrojet counterpart. If this is a feature that you’d like to use, there’s a wi-fi enabled pump that Lay Z Spa stock is compatible with this model.
There is no built-in LED lighting system for the Lay Z Spa Hawaii; if lighting is your most preferred feature, we suggest looking into the Paris model. You can, however, purchase floating lights and other light-based accessories that are compatible with the Hawaii from Lay Z Spa’s website.
The Lay Z Spa Hawaii is a relatively spacious inflatable hot tub with a maximum capacity of 6 average-sized adults. The square shape of this hot tub does allow for more efficient use of its space so that you may feel a little more comfortable in the Hawaii than in comparably sized circular hot tubs.
We usually find that the most comfortable way to enjoy any inflatable hot tub is to operate a little below its capacity, so inviting 3 or 4 friends for a relaxing soak is our recommended way to get the most out enjoyment of your Lay Z Spa Hawaii.
As the industry leader, Lay Z Spa is very good at providing the most premium safety features on all of its inflatable hot tubs.
The Hawaii uses an inflatable lid and secure clip cover to prevent anything or anyone from accidentally falling into the water when not in use, and also provides a reliable ground fault detection system to protect the circuitry from any faults.
Thanks to its square design and I beam construction, this is a particularly comfortable inflatable hot tub, especially when the capacity is kept just below its maximum.
We’ve found it’s the perfect size for 4-5 guests to comfortably sprawl out, providing enough legroom to enjoy the relaxing bubbles and massage system properly.
The cushioned floor offers excellent support during regular use, though if you’re prone to cramps, additional seating might be a good investment.
The average Lay Z Spa model will cost around £7-£10 per week to run, though if you’re getting a lot of use out of the massage system and rapid heating, you may find these costs begin to rise.
The Hawaii is pretty spacious, so the average weekly expense can creep up, but by using the energy-saving timer, you should be able to monitor the inflatable hot tub electric bill and keep an eye on costs.
You should also remember that inflatable hot tubs require regular maintenance, so factor in the additional cost of filter cartridges and chemicals to your budget.
With a brilliant rapid heating system and a mid-range water capacity, this hot tub enjoys particularly speedy heat-up times, reaching a water temperature of 40 degrees Celsius within about 8-10 hours after initial setup.
Once up and running, the Hawaii can make use of its freeze shield and insulated cover to retain its water temperature whilst not in use. If you start heating the hot tub as soon as you get in from work, it should reach your desired temperature within an hour or two.
Any inflatable hot tub with a massage system and air pump will make noticeable noise, so it’s advised that you position the Hawaii away from any windows and choose a sheltered area of the garden to install your hot tub.
So long as you don’t run the pump at full power all day, the Hawaii hot tub isn’t quite as loud as most comparable inflatable spas, so you shouldn’t receive any complaints from your neighbours.
To be extra cautious, we recommend using the energy-saving timer on the flip-up control panel, as this will provide a little extra control over the noisiness of the pump.
Like the other Lay Z Spa hot tubs in their current range, the Hawaii uses its built-in freeze shield to prevent any water freezing in the pipes or the pump overnight.
Not only does this protect your Hawaii hot tub from suffering damage during the winter, but it aids in producing a swift heat up time when you do choose to take a dip.
The Hawaii is one of the more expensive airjet models that Lay Z Spa produces, but we think that the sociable design and good use of available space help to justify this.
It’s a well built hot tub, offering premium functionality and a comfortable interior. Though there are similarly sized models available from competing brands, none seem to match Hawaii’s maximum heat capability, massaging bubbles or space.
If you’re keeping an eye on your budget, it can be wise to check suppliers in the off-season, as you might just find a bargain as retailers attempt to offload their stock during low demand.
We’re always impressed with Lay Z Spa’s warranties, offering 12 months on the pump and 6 months on the lid being as standard.
It can be worth taking the time to register your new hot tub on the brand’s website, as this will double the length of your warranty on both the pump and lid. Whilst you’re there, you’ll find the details of Lay Z Spa’s excellent UK-based support line, where expert staff can help with any hot tub related issues you may have.
The reviews of the Lay Z Spa Hawaii back up our point that is one of the most sought after tubs for families. Its large size and excellent quality with certain technology make it a family favourite.
If you’re looking for a roomy hot tub with a design that encourages socialising, the Hawaiian hot tub is a great choice. It provides all of the great additions you’d expect from a premium inflatable spa in a comfortable and intimate design that neatly fits into any garden space.
It’s relatively economical to run and can provide super-fast heat-up times, even during freezing temperatures, with the only downside being its fairly high price point.
Provided that you care for your hot tub appropriately, the Hawaii will last for years, thanks to an incredibly high build quality, so we think it will be worth your time if you’re looking for a hot tub that provides a great social environment.
If the bestway lay z spa Hawaii isn’t quite up to your standard, why not browse all of the Lay Z Spa hot tub models over on our main page. Ranging in sizes, shapes and colours, we’re sure you’ll find one that suits your needs.
If you like the square shape of the Hawaii but don't mind sacrificing a little space for a lower price, the Bestway Ibiza Airjet might be the better choice of inflatable spa for you.
With the same heating system and freeze protection as the Hawaii, the Ibiza is just a little smaller than its range-mate, which helps to keep that price tag down.
With a comparable number of air jets and a decent freeze protection system of its own, the Dellonda is a good alternative at a much more affordable price.
You will, however, notice a lower build quality and will lose out on the sociable functionality of the Hawaii's square style design.
Like all Lay Z Spa hot tubs, the Hawaii provides a simple tool-free setup that should take under 10 minutes to complete. Once inflated, you’ll just need to fill the hot tub with fresh water, which should take around an hour and then you’ll be good to go!
If you’re looking for a hot tub that can suit every social occasion, the Lay Z Spa Hawaii is a great choice. It’s packed with premium functionality and great design, and though it may cost a little more than some comparably sized models, we think the build quality is worth it.
There are very few negative reviews for this hot tub, which speaks volumes about its quality. We hope this lay z spa hawaii review will help you make an informed decision and we think most people will be impressed with the comfort and spaciousness of the Hawaii when enjoying a relaxing soak after a long day.
