This is our review of the Lay-Z-Spa Miami hot tub (updated in 2023)
Marketed by Lay Z Spa as their most affordable circular spa, the Miami spa is one of the bestselling hot tubs on the UK market.
But is Miami airjet spa living off past glories? It’s been at the top of its game for such a long time; in 2023, are there better portable spa hot tubs?
The new improved Miami Airjet now boasts Freeze Shield technology, an energy-saving timer and a rapid heating system that can be operated at the same time as the filter and air jets. Like all Lay Z Spas, it’s a breeze to set up, and it can fit a family of 4 or give couples a generous space to unwind.
It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles like the ones in our best inflatable hot tub reviews, but you won’t be forking out a fortune either.
For full disclosure, we did not buy the latest Miami Lay Z Spa for this review.
We used all the specifications and reviews online combined with ten years experience of running this site to create our Lay Z Spa Miami review.

The main selling point of the Lay Z Spa Miami is the fact it isn’t expensive at all, offering all of the high-quality luxury features that we’ve come to expect from this brand at one of the lowest prices in the current range.
Boasting plenty of space for a couple or small family, a rapid heating system, a massage system, and a freeze shield. The Miami hot tub is ideal for first-time buyers who want a premium hot tub experience without the premium price tag.
With 120 air jets placed around the entire circumference of the floor, this inflatable hot tub provides an excellent massage system that can be fully adjusted by an easy to use control panel on the side of the tub.
The airjet massage system in the Lay Z Spa Miami uses the same technology as the more expensive models in the manufacturers ever increasing range, only sacrificing the number of jets to keep this budget model, perfectly balances quality and value.
Thank’s to the excellent dual operation; this inflatable hot tub can power its air jets, heating system and water filtration system simultaneously, helping to keep the water warm bubbly even during extended use.
The Lazy Spa Miami also includes an energy-saving timer to help keep an eye on the power usage when using all of these features. This can be easily accessed from the control panel, allowing hot tubbers to recline in peace without worrying too much about their energy bills.

As a budget model, the Lay Z Spa Miami does not include wi-fi controls as standard, though a wi-fi enabled pump unit is available on the brand’s website that is compatible with this hot tub.
The Lay Z Spa Miami does not include an LED lighting system.
The Paris hot tub is your best bet for lighting, though this model will cost considerably more than this tub. Separate light accessories can be purchased from the brand if you enjoy this feature.
The Lay Z Spa Miami is 2-4 person hot tub and can comfortably accommodate up to four adults, though we believe this inflatable hot tub is best enjoyed by couples.
The limited capacity of the Miami hot tub means it’s much better suited to two or three guests or a small family with a couple of children and a couple of adults, as this will offer far more legroom to relax whilst enjoying the massage system.
All Lay Z Spa’s make great considerations in the way of safety, featuring a secure cover and inflatable lid to prevent and children or pets from accidentally falling into the water.
Alongside this cover, it includes a ground fault detection system and an internal RCD, both of which work to detect any faults within the hot tub’s circuitry and cut the power to the unit if any danger is detected.
Considering the price of the Miami inflatable hot tub, we think you’ll be impressed with the build quality, offering an incredibly supportive Duraplus lining that’s very comfortable during regular use.
The floor is reasonably padded, meaning you can sit in the tub for a good few hours without feeling any major discomfort. You can also purchase a lay z spa ground mat for this tub which will provide extra support and a better base.
However, additional seating may be needed if you’re planning on spending any longer than 2 hours at a time relaxing in this hot tub.
As one of the smaller inflatable hot tubs in the Lay Z Spa range, this tub tends to be much cheaper to run than some of the other models sold by this hot tub brand.
Lay Z Spa estimate that their hot tubs will cost between £7-£10 per week to run, but we’ve seen the Miami manage to keep its costs down to £3-£5 per week with the aid of its brilliant energy-saving timer.
As many first time buyers may be looking into purchasing this model, we should mention the additional costs of maintaining an inflatable. The PH and chlorine levels will need to be regulated using chlorine tablets and a chemical floater, and the filter cartridge will need to be changed regularly.
These products can get a little pricey, so look out for Lay Z Spa’s free chemical starter kit, often included in new purchases from their website.
The Miami inflatable hot tub can achieve speedy heat-up times all year round, thanks to Lay Z Spa’s brilliant rapid heating system and freeze shield technology.
Straight out of the box, you can expect this garden spa to reach a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius within around 6-12 hours, and retaining this heat is as simple as storing the unit with the secure cover and ensuring that the freeze shield is activated.
This combination works incredibly well to prevent heat loss overnight. It should allow you to heat the spa back up to your desired temperature within an hour or two of removing the cover.
Any hot tub running a pump and air jets will make considerable noise, so you should always consider positioning your hot tub away from any windows and choose a sheltered area of the garden to install your unit.
It isn’t quite as loud as the larger models available from this brand, and using the power-saving functions on the control panel will help to limit the amount of operational noise.
If you’re setting up the Miami in a smaller garden, we recommend using an insulated ground mat underneath the hot tub to reduce unwanted noise further.
An ideal choice for the colder months thanks to its rapid heating system, freeze shield technology and insulted material lining. The freeze protection works by monitoring your hot tub’s internal water temperature and automatically adding heat if it drops below 10 degrees Celsius.
If it is stored with its cover fully secured and the freeze protection enabled, the water should remain warm overnight, helping to protect against any frozen water damaging the pipes and pump. This will also help the rapid heating system reach your desired temperature much faster when you choose to hop into the hot tub!
The Lay Z Spa Miami Inflatable hot tub is amongst the best value for money options from this well-respected brand, whilst still including all of the key features that customers tend to look for in premium inflatable hot tubs.
It delivers a high-quality experience for less money, making it an excellent choice for those looking to keep an eye on their budget.
Further savings can always be made by checking multiple stockists during the offseason; we’ve found that it’s not uncommon to see this model at a surprisingly discounted price.
The Lay Z Spa Miami inflatable hot tub has a 12-month warranty on the pump and 6 months on the lid as standard. This can be increased to a two-year warranty on the pump and 12 months on the cover by simply registering your product online.
While visiting the Lay Z Spa website, you should also note their support hotline number, as this service is staffed by industry professionals who can help with any queries, questions or problem you may have regarding your Miami inflatable spa.
The reviews of the Lay Z Spa Miami are excellent. It scored on average 4.6/5 stars on over 100 reviews.

With very similar specs to the Miami Lazy Spa hot tub, it differs in its stylish rattan design, though we personally think it's worth saving some money and choosing the Miami.

If you're not too bothered about fancy functionality and are just looking for a basic inflatable hot tub that can warm you up on chilly nights, the MSpa Bergen is a decent choice.
It has slightly fewer air jets and a less impressive heating system, though you will find this model a little more spacious, and you will save a little money by opting for this brand.
The Lazy Spa Miami can be easily setup in under 10 minutes without tools. Just attach the pump, inflate the hot tub, and fill to 70% capacity with clean water.
Filling the hot tub should take 1-2 hours, and you should always make sure to check the chemical levels before hopping in for a soak!
